GOAL goals

By now, I am sure you are convinced like I am that goal setting is important. I found out that most time after people have gotten to this point, they begin ask and wonder how to go about setting goals. So if your question is ‘how do I start, what do I put first, what should be my yardstick for measuring progress’.

Then, this writeup is for you In answering these questions, I discover by observation and from people who have done this research before me that there are two types of goals. I will succinctly explain these two approaches

THE SHORT TERM GOAL
I saw that the goals considered as short term goals are the goals you set to accomplish over a short period of time. These types of goals affect your day to day activities. These are the goals you set to make your day fulfilling. I mean every morning before you stand up from your bed, you should know what you want to do that day. Don’t just stand up from bed and do whatever comes your way. Plan your day because your daily fulfillment is embedded in carrying out your daily plans. Setting daily goals is a form of short term goals.
In fact, short term goals could be over a week. For a student goals over a short term could be; goals ranging from academics, to finance, to spiritual growth. For a working class, the goals may range from what you want to accomplish at work over a short period of time.
I discover that the most important thing about short term goal is that the result should be measureable within a short period of time.

When you achieve this short term plans, what you have is a steady and constant progress in life but then, this short term plans should have a steady overall value that is being added to the long term goal. There is therefore no point in setting goals that really have no positive effect to add to you in the long term because such plans are taking you nowhere. Do not do things that really are not important at the expense of the things that are important.
In conclusion, I will advise that, for every month, you should write out the plan of what you want to achieve in relation to your overall long term goals. Also, every morning, make plans directed towards monthly fulfillment. A student who wants to get distinction at the end of the year needs to plan to read per day. Planning to read daily is the short term goal targeted at achieving a long term goal of getting distinction. A manager who wants to expand is company at the end of the year should be able to plan to save monthly towards this expansion.
